Manish Paul also known as Maniesh Paul is an Indian host, anchor and actor. He has worked in a few TV serials and movies but the major chunk of his work has been hosting TV shows.
Manish Paul was born on August 3, 1981 in a Punjabi Christian family to Jagmohan Paul and Urmil Paul in Malviya Nagar, New Delhi. He has brother Vevek Paul and a sister Jyoti Paul Mohan. His family is originally from Sialkot in Pakistan, who migrated to India after the partition.
He did his schooling from Apeejay School in New Delhi and later did his bachelor’s in tourism from College of Vocational Studies, University of Delhi.
His brother Vevek Paul is a Producer and is married to Rinku Talwar. They have a daughter named Nishka Paul.
His sister Jyoti Paul is married to Aashish Mohan. They have 2 daughters, Aanya Mohan and Navya Mohan.
He has always been a host and he used to cultural events in his schools and colleges as well.
He got his first break in 2002, when he got a chance to host a show called Sunday Tango for Star Plus. During this time, he also started working as a RJ & VJ and hosted the RJ Bunny Morning show for Radio City and worked as a VJ with Zee Music.
Manish got his first acting role in Star One’s Ghost Bana Dost (2006) in which he played the role of a friendly ghost who helps a boy in teaching lessons to his uncle, aunt and cousins who illtreat him. After that he acted in may TV serials like Ssshhhh… Phir Koi Hai (2006), Chhoona Hai Aasmaan (2007), Radhaa Ki Betiyaan Kuch Kar Dikhayengi (2008) & Pyaar Mein Twist (2011).
However, he found acting in daily soaps unsatisfying so he quit working in them and was out of work for eight months in 2008. He considers that period as lowest point of his life.
He made his film debut in a lead role in Mickey Virus (2013) opposite Elli Avram.
Manish Paul got married to his childhood sweetheart Sanyukta Paul on January 29, 2007. Sanyukta is a Bengali. The couple was blessed with a baby girl named Saisha Paul in 2011 and their son, Yuvann Paul was born in 2016.
In November 2020, Mickey Virus actor landed in a controversy for allegedly portraying Kashmiris in a ‘bad light’ in his Dollar Thermals advertisement. In the advertisement, a man steals the scarf which he was wearing. Towards the end of the video, Manish catches the thief and gave him his other cloths as well. However, when the thief ask Manish about how he will manage in Kashmir’s cold weather, the actors show off his Dollar Thermals.
Manish Paul changed his name to Maniesh Paul by adding an extra ‘e’ to his name on someone’s suggestion.
